1. Information We Collect

We collect information to provide a better browsing experience across our travel grid. This includes:

• Voluntary Information: When you email us directly at hello@gridtrotter.com, we collect your email address and any details you include in your message.
• Automated Information: We automatically collect certain data when you browse our site, such as your IP address, browser type, device info, and pages visited via cookies and analytics tools.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the collected data exclusively to:

• Respond to your emails, feedback, and partnership inquiries.
• Analyze website traffic to improve our travel guides, stories, and layout.
• Maintain the security and integrity of our online platform.

3. Cookies, Analytics, and Consent

We ask for consent where the law requires it: visitors in the European Union, the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, and any visitor whose location we cannot determine, see a consent banner to accept or decline non-essential cookies. Elsewhere, analytics and partner features load by default. We work out your region from the country code our hosting provider, Cloudflare, attaches to each request; we do not store it. Any choice you make is stored on your device and remembered for up to twelve months, and you can change it anytime through the Cookie Settings link in our footer.

• Google Analytics: We use Google Analytics 4 with Google Consent Mode. Where consent is required and until you accept, it runs in a privacy-preserving mode that measures traffic without storing cookies or identifying you. Once you accept, or elsewhere unless you decline, it sets standard analytics cookies.
• Cloudflare Web Analytics: We also count visits with Cloudflare Web Analytics. It sets no cookies, stores nothing on your device and does not identify you, so it runs for every visitor.
• Travelpayouts: Our tour listings and our affiliate auto-linking (Travelpayouts Drive) load only when cookies are allowed: after you accept, or by default where consent is not required. Once loaded, Drive turns links to travel brands into affiliate links that pass through Travelpayouts' redirect, and both set their own cookies to attribute partner referrals. If you decline, neither loads: tour listings stay hidden and brand links go straight to the brand's site.
• Error monitoring: When cookies are allowed, we report technical errors, such as a page failing to load, to Sentry so we can fix them. A report holds technical details like the page address and browser, not your name or contact details.

You can also disable cookies through your browser settings, though some features may not function optimally as a result.

4. Third-Party Links and Booking Resources

Our website contains curated affiliate links and structural resources to external travel booking platforms. We do not control, operate, or endorse the privacy practices of these third-party websites. Once you leave our domain, please review the individual privacy policies of those specific booking networks.

5. Data Security

We implement appropriate technical security measures to protect your data from unauthorized access, alteration, or disclosure. However, please note that no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure.
